SNSD Taeyeon Hated Their Song “Gee” and “Hoot”

At first, Girls’ Generation wasn’t as popular as they are now. In fact, Girls’ Generation was constantly running behind the Wonder Girls. This all changed when they released “Gee”, a hit single that swept the nation and set a record for number of weeks it placed first on the charts.

However, not everyone liked “Gee”. In fact, Taeyeon hated it so much that when she heard it, she cried because she didn’t want to sing it. Taeyeon added that she hated both Gee and Hoot, and yet both songs are popular. She said that the only song she liked that they promoted was “Run Devil Run”.

It seems that Taeyeon doesn’t like the styles that are associated with “Gee” and “Hoot”, but prefers the opposite style that they used for the concept of “Run Devil Run”. Does this mean that Girls’ Generation might promote more “dark concept” songs in the future?

Taeyeon and Sooyoung’s kiss on Music Core was actually for Halloween.

It’s been a few days since the girls’ shot arrows into our hearts with their comeback stages for hoot, but a different type of attention has already surfaced regarding their performances.

On Saturday’s Music Core, the girls’ performed their new song ‘My Best Friend‘ off of their third mini-album, coming on stage in white dresses.

This brought a sense of nostalgia to many fans, as it was reminiscent of SNSD’s innocent ‘Kissing You‘ concept. The members were very playful during the performance, with Taeyeon and Sooyoung’s kiss at the end being a big topic of discussion amongst fans. It now turns out however, the girls’ white dresses and playfulness were all part of their halloween roles to surprise fans – for they were all dressed up as… OTP Killers.

While it was still the 30th on Music Core (and thus not quite halloween), soshi had decided that they likely won’t get a chance to present themselves in such a way during their Inkigayo performances of Hoot and Mistake. Being the fun and mischievous girls that they were, the opportunity to dress up for halloween on Music Core just could not be passed up.

As Sooyoung explains:

We were very excited to come back to Korea for Hoot, and have put lots of preparations into this stage for fans to enjoy. We wanted to show sones that we are not only close with certain members, but that we are all in an open relationship known as soshi bond. 2ny is just as real as Taeny if you look hard enough.

Despite the girls’ efforts to dress up however, many fans had not realized the ingenious costume of OTP Killers and merely passed it off as fanservice. It is only now that the effects have started to appear, as sones are all of a sudden starting to ship SooTae and other less common pairings.

Sunny stated:

Our fans show they love us by cringing and squealing… it’s an odd fanclub, but we try our best to make them happy. Sometimes you just have to surprise them with what they’re not used to seeing. I think we were successful, but Sooyoung better not try that again..

Taeyeon could not be reached for comment, as she unfortunately had a nosebleed when poised with questions.

SM Entertainment clarifies the kiss between Sooyoung & Taeyeon

SNSD’s agency, SM Entertainment, recently clarified the controversy surrounding Taeyeon and Sooyoung’s “kiss” on an episode of MBC’s “Music Core“, aired on October 30th.

SM Entertainment stated, “The song is about the friendship between the nine members. They wanted to express their friendship in a loving way.”

Taeyeon and Sooyoung gave a surprise kiss to one another at the end of their “My Best Friend” performance on “Music Core,” confusing viewers with its intent.

Netizens previously gave mixed responses on the issue, with some commenting that it was too much, while others thought it was a cute and friendly gesture.

Yesterday on ‘Music Core‘, SNSD made their comeback into the music scene with “Hoot” and also treated fans to a performance of “My Best Friend.” While everyone was primarily focused on their”Hoot” performance, a certain incident in “My Best Friend” ended up becoming the dominant topic of the night.

During their special stage of “My Best Friend,” leader Taeyeon and fellow member Sooyoung were seen exchanging what appeared to be a light peck on the lips. Though they probably did not actually have any lip contact – Taeyeon covered the “kiss” with her hand – they obviously meant the gesture.

When asked, SM Entertainment expressed, “It was just an expression of their friendship and their song is about their friendship so they just wanted to express it in a loving way on stage.”

Ironically, netizens were not pleased by this “fan service” moment as they commented, “That was a bit crude, as they are from the same girl group” and “Although it was cute, it was not good/comfortable to watch.” Yet netizens love fan service from male idols… hmm, double standard much?

Voice Dubbing Challenge, Taeyeon, Seohyun “Super Bad” Red Carpet
