Good evening! Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai here!
“Aiming for the shining stars, five groups, from Monday to Friday, presenting one daily, FIVE STARS! On Thursdays it’s being presented by me, Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai!”
So, this week’s opening theme is “Hot”, so if you say hot, recently it’s so hot I sleep with some ice bags under my arms *laughs*. Because it’s hot is one reason why I do this, but this is also for my throat. When we sing or just use our voice, the… what is it again? temperature! Rises, so, I do this to cool it, it’s good for the throat. Killing two birds with one stone, right. At first, after I heard of this and gave it a try… it really hurts! But you have to endure it, and if you get through this, it feels so nice *laughs*. So, at first it’s kinda troubling, but when you get accustomed to it, it’s refreshing. I do this especially on the summer, but I’ve done this on the winter too, although it’s so cold. *laughs* I’m get under the blanket but have some ice bags with me. But you get to always keep your throat well this way, it’s something I recommend. Also, air conditioners aren’t really my thing, hmm, I have one on my room, but it gets too much on my head, (not sure this part) *and I don’t use anything against it*. As for electric fans, it’s too troublesome to bring it to my room, since it’s a big round one, so it takes time to bring it. *laughs* “That’s why?”, but… ice bags are good enough, I recommend.
So, please listen to tonight’s Takahashi Ai FIVE STARS first song: Morning Musume’s Moonlight Night ~Tsukiyo no Ban da yo~

Morning Musume Takahashi Ai presents FIVE STARS Thursdays. This is the FIVE PLEASURES corner. On Thursdays’ Five Pleasures, I, Takahashi Ai, will talk about what I’m most interested in at the moment.
Tonight I want to talk about Kuraki Mai. First, please listen to this song: Kuraki Mai in Stepping out.
—————————————————–
Kuraki Mai – Stepping Out
—————————————————–
This is Kuraki Mai’s Stepping out, and I just love this song. I used to do Classic ballet, and on the way to my classes, I had my mom play this song all the time. We had the album but I only listened to this one *laughs*, always repeating this one. “One more time, one more time!” I used to say. This is just how much I love this one. I was in the third year of middle school, maybe? It was just released. And Kuraki Mai-san… ah, let me explain this first, Kuraki Mai-san was born in Octover 28, 1982, and it seems that when she watched Michael Jackson’s video clips, it got to her, and after she watched a Whitney Houston live video, she decided to try to be a professional singer. And then when she was on second year of middle school, she began composing by herself her own demonstration tape (is there a better way to say this?)! Amazing! Really amazing! Because, you know, all by herself! Well, Utada Hikaru-san is amazing too, and they both begun kinda at the same time, right? At the time I was in third year of middle school, and at that time, people (at her school, I think) were, like, divided between Utada Hikaru-san’s fans or Kuraki Mai-san’s. I liked both of them, and found someone thatwas more of a Utada Hikaru fan, I was always “Why? Kuraki Mai is so blah blah…” and I would go into a long explanation, “Here, listen to this song! It’s really nice!” and I would forcibly lend an album or something. *laughs* I’d also record some cassette tapes and give them away. At that time, I loved to watch detective Conan, and the theme song was sung by Kuraki Mai, “Secret of my heart”. I even learned that song.
I wonder why, like, I love her face. Isn’t she normally cute? And her live performances, I used to buy them myself and watch it, I still do this nowadays. And, like, I’m not very good when it comes to speaking, for example, on Morning Musume’s concerts, there’re many other members who can speak properly, actually, it’s just me who has this problem *laughs*, I guess I got like this because they’d always cover for me. Anyway, there are many characteristics of her that I can relate to, Kuraki Mai-san too is like, kinda childish sometimes, the two of us together would be disastrous *laughs*. She’s my senpai, my great senpai and I have a huge respect for her, so I’d like her to continue like this! That’s why she’s cute! It’s like she can’t talk properly, but she gives her best to transmit what she wants to say. She can convey it in the end, and she’s older than me, so it turns out I find her cute because of this. I look up to her (kinda suspicious, this part lol). But she’s good at making songs!
Seriousley, when I first got to know that she made her own demo tape at her second year of middle school, I could only think “Wow! Amazing!” She made it herself, maybe I should try it too, nah, I’m no good *laughs*. But Linlin seems to compose too! (oh, the river of tears in December…) She plays guitar on her free time (and well! Anyone who never saw her play and is interested, I can send you a link! =]), and some times, out of nowhere, she thinks of something good and begins writing some lyrics. Just like an artist! Hm.. I kinda look up to Linlin too, secretly *laughs*.
Ne? But Kuraki Mai-san, I really respect her. I actually sang some of her songs at my audition, at the first and second screening. The first screening was so sudden, and I was certain I wouldn’t pass the document examination. But 2, 3 days later they called me, and I had to buy a MD (minidisc?), choose the repertoire, and then memorize the songs. But I can’t memorize it, if it’s not a song that I like, so I chose Kuraki Mai-san’s “Tsumetai Umi”. This was the first song I chose. I could only listen to this song, so it was the only one I memorized, but at the audition, I had to sing another one, since no one stopped me. So, the first one was ok for me to sing, but the second one *laughs* I though “Eh, but I didn’t listen to it!”, and my heart was pounding so fast, so… at the first screening, I wasn’t able to sing the second song well, but for the second screening we were able to choose another songs, but I kept the same. I learned both, thinking “This time I’ll get it right!” but they asked me to stop after the first one *laughs*.
Yeah, I’d like you to listen to this song that I have these kind of memories, Kuraki Mai in Tsumetai Umi.

Kuraki Mai – Tsumetai Umi

The song just now was Kuraki Mai in Tsumetai Umi. So, this was Takahashi Ai’s Five Pleasures, and I talked about Kuraki Mai!

Messages corner
Five Stars Thursdays, presented by Takahashi Ai. Now, I’d like to introduce some messages.
First mail:
“Ai-chan, good evening. When I listen to this program, it remembers me of the English Teacher Yoshiko when he was in middle school. Yoshiko sensei went to study abroad in an American university. His pronunciation is really good, but he was raised in Aomori, so there were many times I had no idea what he was talking about since his Japanese had that northeastern accent. This made him so funny he was really popular among the students. Ai-chan, did you have any teachers that left some kind of impression like this on you too?”
Yeah, I had. He was my English teacher too, but I don’t really remember his name *laughs*. Ano ne, I’m not good with names, I can’t remember them very well (lol she mentioned this before =p, seems she had a manager once she frequently forgot the name^^), although I’m confident when it comes to remembering people’s faces. Anyway, about this teacher of mine, one of his traits was that even though he was an English Teacher, he would always say “aiMU (I’m)”. He would always focus on “aimu”, and this was so funny, it always made me laugh, like “Ah, there it is, there it is!” It’s not something we talked about behind his back, we would talk about it in front of him. This was a peculiarity of his so known on the school that everyone imitated him. Because saying “I’m” it’s not something that hard for us *laughs*, it’s not like “V”.
And our Japanese teacher would say “You, do not you think so?” (this isn’t literal lol, this is the best way I found to say something like it^^), we’d talk about this with our classmates “What creepy way of talking he has, ‘do not you think so’, sup with that?” (this Ai-chan says with Fukui accent =]), we made so much fun of him for speaking like that, and the when I came to Tokyo, I was the one speaking with accent and only then I noticed that he was only speaking in standard Japanese *laughs*. Seriously, before I came to Tokyo I had no idea Fukui dialect was this hard to be understood by others. Well, on TV I’ve heard some of Hokuriku’s dialects (it’s an area to the west of Tokyo, which includes Fukui^^)… ah, that’s not it! I’m the one who speaks a dialect from Hokuriku. It’s northeastern dialect, or was it called zuuzuu dialect too? (it seems it’s called like this too… don’t take this for sure though) also Hokkaido dialect, I’ve seen how it’s hard to communicate with these, but with Fukui-dialect it’s like I’m speaking in English. Like “Hayo shinema!”, it means hayo… “hayaku shite (hurry up!)”, for example, when I said this to Ogawa Makoto-chan, one of the other three 5th gen members, she’s from the Niigata prefecture, anyway, when I casually said to her “hayo shinema!”, she said “Eh? Why would you say something this scary?” while keeping some distance from me (this is Ai-chan’s classical example of Fukui dialect lol, she spoke of this on some TV shows, and even on Ichigo Ichie, it kinda sounds like “hurry and die” or something like this for those who aren’t accustomed to it lol). “That’s not it, it means hurry up”. That’s why it was really troublesome at first, this accent of mine seemed scary. Also, Fukui prefecture is not that much known, I heard it was the “most unknown” prefecture… Hai, that’s where I was raised *laughs*. But I’d like it to become more known, so I think I’ll speak in Fukui dialect once in a while, so yoroshiku onegaishimasu.
So, this corner is for trouble consultations, questions you might have for me, I’ll be waiting for your mails! The address is five-ai@interfm.jp

Morning Musume Takahashi Ai presented FIVE STARS, it’s time to go now. Today I was able to talk about Fukui, and it was kinda fun *laughs*, from now on, I’ll speak in Fukui dialect once in a while, but it definitely will be hard to understand!
Then, let me speak a bit on Fukui Dialect.
“Morning Musume (noO) Takahashi Ai (YA) presented Five Stars, it’s time for the ending (YA WAA)”
*laughs* Did you understand?
Eh? My impression’s of today too? Then, I’ll say it on Fukui dialect too.
(well, there’s no way to translate the dialect, I’ll just translate what she says, and you’ll have to listen to it lol, you should be able to notice the difference in intonation and etc. =])
“To speak using my home town accent, like, it’s a bit nostalgic. Now, when I go back there and end up saying ‘jan’ (this is normal for people in Tokyo, not in Fukui) ‘you said ‘jan’ just now! You’re turning into one of them!’ they say to me. That’s not it, I’m not being affected at all. Like, like *laughs*. When I go back to my home town, I try my best to talk in Fukui-dialect too. This might be some frutless… fruitless effort *laughs*.”
Ok, that’s all for today, like *laughs*, so nostalgic! On the beginning, they told me I had to try and hide my Fukui accent. At first, I didn’t really thought of trying to lose it, and it’s not something you do naturally, since it was troubling because no one could understand me well, I had to work hard to speak in standard Japanese. When I watch a TV show from that time, it makes me realize how much I lost of it, and when someone asks if I fixed my accent and can now speak in standard Japanese, I answer “yes!” with an smile, but the other members always say “Oh, really?” *laughs*. But it’s true if you compare with how I used to be. I think I was able to grow on this time… or maybe not *laughs*. But if I speak in Fukui dialect, it pleases people in Fukui, also some of the fans get really excited when I speak with accent, so maybe I should use it once in a while (yes!! Please! =]). No one will understand a thing though *laughs*. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

Mornins Musue… Musume concert tour 2010 Fall promo
So, let’s meet again next Thursday!
Baibai!

Good evening! Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai here!
“Aiming for the shining stars, five groups, from Monday to Friday, presenting one daily, FIVE STARS! On Thursdays it’s being presented by me, Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai!”
So, this week’s theme for the opening talk is “Rain”. First, that Korean “Rain” comes to my mind immediately, that Pi (Pi seems to be his stage name) *laughs*. Ano ne~ speaking of rain… I’m a rain-woman. Actually, more of a storm-woman than a rain-woman. If you ask me, I noticed this on my first photo book “Takahashi Ai”. When I was shooting it, there was this unbelievably heavy rain falling at the time, so there were many shots with rain on it. Unfortunately it kinda turned out into a gloomy photobook because of this, even though it was my first one! *laughs* This was around 9 years ago or even more, it’s nostalgic somehow, and it was from that moment that I noticed that I had many encounters with storms. More and more fans as well as members too have noticed this, and every time it rains, they always glare at me *laughs*, and I naturally feel like apologizing. Seriously, this is too much, to the extent that it’s like I have some kind of power or something to make rain. A recent story was in Los Angeles. I went to Los Angeles alone on New Year, it was my first trip overseas alone. So, Los Angeles has a good climate, and it should be a good place to spend the new year, but the three days I spent there, all three days were like being under attack with for raining so much in Los Angeles. *laughs* There was a person there that helped us last year when we went to the Anime Expo, and this time too, she helped me out again, and she was amazed at it, not like laughing at it, but more like in shock. Since it doesn’t normally rain, when it begun, even the traffic got a lot inconvenient. It got so crowded, and there were a lot of accidents, and since it’s not usual to rain there, many people were slipping around for running too fast. (lol, it’s like Ai-chan brought chaos to LA xDD). That’s how much it rains when I’m around *laughs*. That’s the kind of person Takahashi Ai is.
So, please listen to tonight’s Takahashi Ai’s FIVE STARS’ first song: Morning Musume in Seishun Collection.

Morning Musume Takahashi Ai presents FIVE STARS Thursdays. This is the FIVE PLEASURES corner. On Thursdays’ Five Pleasures, I, Takahashi Ai, will talk about what I’m most interested in at the moment. Tonight I’d like to talk about France!
We went to the Japan Expo! Yaaaaay! *laughs* France!
When I told everyone that we were going to France, they were “that’s awesome!”, “isn’t it?”we went with this in mind, but we’ve never had such a long trip before! It was 14 hours long! Ne! It’s more than we sleep on a day! *laughs* So we went without getting any sleep before. Same thing when I went to New York, it takes around 12 hours to get there, so I didn’t sleep before the trip so I’d sleep on the plane. But 14 hours, there’s no way to sleep all the way there. Well, at the time Alice in wonderland was playing there, so I watched it and then went to sleep. I think I slept most of the way there.
After we went and got to see it on our own, France is really amazing! Taking pictures was all I could do *laughs*. It was so beautiful, the city (streets, houses, stores, etc.)! I’ve seen them on TV before, but they were right in front of my eyes! How should I put it? Everything was just like on TV, and there was a whole lot more, like “just what is this?!”. It made me think Japan is really small, since it’s an “Island country”. Seeing from inside the plane, there’s land really far away… far away isn’t the best way to explain it *laughs*, how should I say it, all the way to the horizon (actually, she says something like the horizon is “connected”), you can’t see the sea at all! France is indeed wonderful.
Also, I checked the French bread there! *laughs* It was really hard! But if you compare the taste, there’s not much difference, but it seems more salty. The salt of France seems to be famous too, I bought some even though I don’t cook at all *laughs*. I just bought it because it was cute.
I ate them every breakfast (French bread). It was so hard my head hurt, but it might be good for the teeth, right? Although the area of the temple of the forehead hurts a bit. They serve it with small pieces too, so these are OK. Croissant and danishes are famous too. I ate some of these and they’re indeed really good. It’s like all I ate there was bread, so I missed rice *laughs*. As expected of a japanese, but French bread is definitely… well, there usually aren’t many opportunities for people to go to France, but if you do, you definitely have to eat some of it.
As for what left the stronger impression on me, it’s about the Japan Expo, hmm, It’s something that happened at the Japan Expo. We weren’t able to walk around the event much. We would have to go to our dressing room, and then when we had to go, we’d go by car, always coming and going like this. But then, yet again it rained *laughs* the rain and I, yeah, again I’m speaking about rain. Well, when it was raining, we couldn’t go outside since we were already wearing our costumes, so our only option was to walk through the event, and also because of the rain, there were a lot of people inside it, so it was way more crowded than normal. People didn’t know we were walking there among them, but strangely enough, there were still some, who saw us walking normally and actually knew about us, they’d say “Ah! It’s Morning Musume!”, we thanked them and then waved back. There were also some people standing in a line there, and there was a really cute… little boy,
“I think, he/she was such a lovely kid (yeah, let’s say he was a kid =]), well, everyone there was cosplaying since they liked anime very much. Anyway, when we crossed this line, this kid was looking on the opposite direction, but the other kid besides him saw us and let out a “Ah!”, then, when the first kid turned around, he was “ooooooh!”, “It’s Morning Musume!”. This was so so funny.”
Junjun *laughs* and I kept imitating him all the way back to the dressing room, like turning our head and then “oooooooh!” over and over again *laughs*. We laughed so hard our bellies hurt. His reaction, he must’ve got really happy. It moved us to think that there were people there that would get that much surprised for seeing us, and on top of that, they weren’t even Japanese, but French. That reaction was way too cute *laughs*. I was really rolling on the floor laughing while Kamei Eri-chan was looking at me like saying “Eh? Why are you laughing so much?” Maybe I got too much into it *laughs* but it was really funny. Even now, Junjun and I still laugh about it.
Also, we were able to do a nice and successful concert, so if we ever get another opportunity like this, I definitely want to go.
And to describe France with one word, it’d have to be “mignon”. Mignon is French and it means cute, so I could describe it with kawaii too. When we were doing the “sign event”, everyone had to draw lots, since it’s limited like, for a 100 people. *Sometimes though, the name of the same person comes up again and again, for the lucky ones it is. Anyway, there were always those who would come saying “kawaii, kawaii!”, since they like us, I guess they learned from singing in japanese and all, but to have so many people saying it in japanese made me so happy. Anyway, at that time, I asked “How do you say it in French?”, “Mignon” is what they said. But they’re really cute, the girls, there were a lot there, they were in cosplay and all, but they’ve such a pretty hair too. Well, it’s not only the girls, that are cute, the boys too, mignon, ne *laughs*. The city too, that’s why I decided on this word.
So, on this Takahashi Ai Five Pleasures, I talked about France.
Now, please listen to one more song, Japan Expo’s theme song, Morning Musume’s Tomo.

Five Stars Thursday, presented by Morning Musume Takahashi Ai.
Now I’d like to introduce some messages.
First mail:
“Ai-chan, good evening! I went to Morning Musume’s Concert and the sign ‘event’ at Japan Expo in France!”
Arigatou gozaimasu.
“I was really surprised that even in France there were that many Morning Musume fans. There were many people on Japan Expo doing cosplay of anime and game characters. Although I was dressed normally there, maybe because of my way of dressing and my hair, they might’ve thought I was doing some kind of cosplay and they took a lot of pictures of me. Ai-chan, is there any cosplay you’d like to try? Please continue working hard while taking care of your health!”
Ne! I was really surprised too!
Like, I know anime is famous around the world, but that there were that many people who knew and liked Morning Musume was a big surprise for me too! Before the live, since we didn’t have the sign event before, we had no idea how many people would come. “If we go out there and it’s completely empty, what should I do?”, we were all wondering what to do imagining a lot of different scenarios. Then, we went to the dressing room before going on stage, and we heard a really strong Morning Musume call, like “Momusu! Momusu!” and then they called for each of our names, and we felt all the strength and pressure from their voices. “Eh, wait, aren’t there a lot of people?”, and when we finally got out there, a lot of people were there for us, so we got really relieved, in peace, or happy, I don’t know. Well, we even got goosepumbs, goose… ah, fumbled *laughs*, goose bumps, ne.
Iya~, Really, I’m so glad they called us and we were able to go there. But 2 years ago, I saw a VTR like “Morning Musume, come to France!”, but we didn’t have any chance before, and two years later, we finally were able to go. But to think that the fans held this feelings for us, there were a lot of girls there who were even crying, “Why are you crying? We are the ones that want to cry!”. What happened on Japan Expo was really something that moved me deeply.
And then, as for the cosplay that I’d like to try, I wonder. But I love Final Fantasy, so I’d like to try one of a Final Fantasy character.
But if you mention cosplay, Linlin comes to mind. Linlin gets really excited since she loves anime a lot. The ones I know she likes are One Piece… maybe? *laughs* and Rurouni Kenshin, then Fullmetal alchemist (hagane no renkinjutsushi)… mou, this one is more like a tongue-twister. There are many others, so, out of nowhere she comes “take this something something, someghing!”, and she doesn’t even explain a thing. Then, on the short time we were inside the Japan Expo, when getting out of the dressing room to the car, she got so excited, it was the peak of her excitement level until now *laughs*. She was taking a lot of pictures with her cell phone, and then asked our manager to take more since she couldn’t “Please, you’ve got to do this for me, you’ve to do this”. This coming and going repeated like 10 times, and everytime she would say this same thing. “Isn’t this enough already? We always come through the same places and there are always the same characters!”, “Then next time, please take some pictures! Next time for sure!”, since we were walking, she couldn’t take it because they’d be all blurred, it was really crowded, so we couldn’t really stop for a moment. Linlin was so lively, the same as in Los Angeles. Seriously, when I get to see Linlin like that, a really big smiled comes to my face (omg, this is killing me! =S, clueless Ai-chan…). What cosplay would Linlin like to try? Maybe One piece, it seems she loves Chopper so much, so maybe it’d be him she would like to try. I have a cell phone strap of chopper, and she’s always “gimme, gimme!”… “I won’t!” *laughs*, so cute! I just tell her to control herself.
Ne, but the one I’d actually like to try is of a Final Fantasy character. Linlin is getting into Final Fantasy too (oh god =S), we talk about it a lot, at it’s always so fun. She doesn’t usually play it, so there’s a lot of stuff she doesn’t know, then she came to my house and I was playing FF 13 at the time, when she saw it, it seems she liked it. Like, it seems she was interested in it *laughs*. This Linlin that makes me have so much fun, daisuki (fck, can’t even imagine how Ai-chan is now… I bet she’s gonna dedicate on FIVE PLEASURES to her or to all 3, and surely she’s gonna cry =S It killed me when she cried at the end of ichigo ichie… no more AiLin, this really sucks.)
So, this corner is for trouble consultations, things you’d like to ask me, I’ll be waiting for your mails!

Morning Musume Takahashi Ai presented FIVE STARS. It’s time to part ways. Today I talked about France, and the message I got that wasn’t from a French, but a Japanese, that came to see us, and like us had this 14 hours long flight, it really made me happy. Not only Japanese, but also people from Korea, Hong Kong, and from Europe too, like Germany and England, etc. people from many places came to see us. Morning Musume is being supported by so many people. We had a talk event too, even though we couldn’t understand each other, we could see their reactions. There was an interpreter there, so there was a huge delay between the talk, but everything was so lively, they were really kind. If they didn’t like us, they wouldn’t go through that, well, there were people who got out in the middle of it, but there were also those who stayed there until the end, it made me think they really support us in France *laughs*. There are many things I’d like to say, but I’ll leave it at this *laughs*. Really, France was the best! If another opportunity comes up, I’ll definitely want to go.

Good evening! Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai here!
“Aiming for the shining stars, five groups, from Monday to Friday, presenting one daily, FIVE STARS! On Thursdays it’s being presented by me, Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai!”
Starting from this week, this FIVE STARS will have a small change, I’ll choose a theme for the opening talk. This week’s theme is “STAR”, so, what comes to mind when I hear star, hmm, recently I read Yazawa Ai-san’s “Neighborhood Story” manga, and there’s a Yamaguchi Tsutomu, then it’s among the things this boy created *laughs* (This boy seems to be an artist). Like, Yamaguchi Tusutomu-kun, he creates (paints, I think) many things, and it seems to me he was able to make a star among them. He paints things like the universe and stuff… Hai *laughs*. But this “Neighborhood story” is really interesting, it would be nice if you guys read it too. Lately I bought the complete collection of it on the net, and it’s good, the pages are colored and all. I got all of them when I was still in elementary school, and it had 8, 7 volumes, now this complete version of it has 4 volumes *laughs*, so definitely *laughs*, what am I doing, I just advertised it.
Now, please listen to today’s Takahashi Ai’s FIVE STARS’ first number: Morning Musume in “Seishun Collection”.

FIVE STARS Thursday presented by Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai.
Starting this month is the FIVE PLEASURE corner, well, basically it’s going to continue the same thing, but on Thursday’s FIVE PLEASURE, I, Takahashi Ai, will talk a lot about what I’m interested the most at the moment.
On this memorable first FIVE PLEASURE, what I’m going to talk about is… the drama “IRIS”! Yay! *laughs* Hai, sorry, I got too excited just now.
Hai, so Iris is being broadcasted on Wednesdays at 9 o’clock on TBS, and maybe there are some of you who have seen it already, but I want to make a summary of it *laughs* (lol, what got to Ai-chan on this program? =]), how to do it, this is kinda hard. It’s like a Korean “24”, maybe it’s easy to understand if I describe it like this, but… in reality I’ve never seen “24” before *laughs*. My mom is the one who said this. She’s into the drama too, and we watch it together. She likes these kind of dramas, ne, these foreign and fast paced dramas, so she said “Ah, this one is just like 24, ne”. Hai, so I’m saying this too now *laughs*. But this one is really interesting. Ano ne, on the drama there’s a politician, the most powerful of the country, well, the location… not location… Terror! *laughs* Not location! Terror. It’s about terror, and there’s this Iris group, they’re the bad guys, a terrorist group, and they’re hidden all over the place… and it’s a fight against them… roughly it’s this. *laughs* I haven’t talked about the leading actor yet, it’s Lee Byung-hun. Lee Byung-hun is from “NSS”… “SNN”? “NSS” is it!? something like a secret agency from the government, kinda like FBI, right? He’s a member from an organization that protects the country. First, his Chief there asks him to do a job, and after he does it, it seems it was a job for Iris, and he end up turning into a fugitive and is chased everywhere, from north to south. Because of this, he doesn’t have anyone who he can rely on anymore. In the end, Lee Byung-hun becomes an ally of the country and works hard to bring down Iris. I wonder if with my rough explanation you were able to understand the story *laughs*, it would be best if you could watch it, that’s obvious though *laughs*.
But this one is really interesting! I’ve never watched a Korean drama before. The members talked a lot about “winter sonata”, and “beautiful days”?, I heard them saying these were good and all, but if it’s to watch it, you have to watch everything, and this takes a lot of time, right? That’s why I never gave it a try, but this time, when it aired on TBS, I watched the first episode, and got into it and now I look forward to it every week, and it can’t be helped but to wait the next one. Well, it’s still being recorded, and on broadcast television it’s still on the 9th episode, but I just can’t wait for it. In reality, on the TBS Channel on Satellite TV, it’s ahead of broadcast tv, and I ended watching it *laughs*. So, there are many things I don’t understand. I was curious about what was going to happen, so I watched it, but the ones I didn’t watch, I think I’ll record and see it later. This is a must-see, really good. There aren’t many like these on Japan, but it’s kinda like Bloody Monday. I watched Bloody Monday and loved it too. But this one (Iris) is so cool. Big Bang’s TOP is in it too, and it’s turning in something even better. TOP’s role is from the bad guys, he’s sided with Iris, but there’s no way to know if he’s really a member of it. It’s like he’s a killer hired by Iris, and he always kills at the perfect spot, appearing from nowhere. It seems he has an important role on it. By all means, if you have the chance, please watch it, I strongly recommend it.
Then, please listen to one more songe, Iris’ theme song, Big Bang in “Tell me goodbye”.

BIGBANG – Tell me Goodbye

The song Just now was Big Bang in “Tell me goodbye”. So, for the first FIVE PLEASURE of Takahashi Ai, I talked about the drama “Iris”!

Five Stars Thursday, presented by Morning Musume Takahashi Ai.
Now I’d like to introduce some messages.
First (and only again):
“Takahashi-san, good evening! I’m studying english now, but I just can’t get any will to do it, so I’m having trouble keeping my studies. Takahashi-san is skillful in English, so, please tell me if you have any tricks or any study techniques to recommend.”
I’m not skillful at all! *laughs*
But I really like it! I love it, but when it comes to study it, I’m not that fond of it, I know how you feel. I’d like to know of any tricks or recommendations, but when I was on middle school, well on senior high school, I didn’t have many time to study like on middle school there were those intervals for studying, also, a week before the tests, there weren’t any club activities, so even though I had this free time during a week, I’m the type that can’t study besides the day before the tests. When I thought of studying, something would happen, like “Ah, what’s this trash here?” *laughs*, then I’d begin cleaning it, I’d normally avert my attention from it. I’d end up doing something entirely different. I wonder why, ne.
So, I can’t even teach much about tricks to study, but I think this is a way of studying, maybe. For example, if you have satellite TV, there are many channels with foreign dramas, so if you have time, it would be good to follow some. Only listening to it is a way o studying. I think if you want to learn it, you really have to do it by yourself. So, on dramas there’s a lot of casual talk, if you could memorize it, for example on OC, and… well, Dark Angel is not really casual conversation, but Beverly Hills is being broadcasted too, and there’s a lot of usual talk on it, it’s really natural English, I think. It seems in reality, there are many people who use this as study material, and I think it’s best to start from listening, and then moving to grammar, which is really important to learn too, but if you have practice on listening, you might learn it easier I think. *laughs* I’m sorry that’s all the advice I’m able to give.
Me too, after “zenkai biito”-san’s message, I got an urge that I have to study too. *laughs* I’ll do my best.
Hai, I’ll be taking a lot of messages, so I’ll be using this time to read a lot of mails of trouble consultations, something you’d like to ask me, etc. The address is five-ai@interfm.jp.

So, July 1st. Well, the day is already over but it’s Akashiya Sanma’s birthday! *laughs* I’ll just take this opportunity to say Happy Birthday Sanma-san! *laughs* He’s definitely not listening right now, but I wanted to support… not support, I felt like congratulating him, so I’m saying Congratulations now! *clap*. Actually, on July 1st I’ll be on France, I won’t be able to congratulate him in person, but I’m putting my feelings into it, hoping that my best wishes will reach him *laughs*.
Now, please listen to today’s Takahashi Ai’s FIVE STARS’ first number: Morning Musume in “Seishun Collection”.

Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai presenting FIVE STARS Thursday. Now it’s a corner where I, Takahashi Ai, will recommend Music, Movies, Plays, Games, Fashion, Foreign drama, etc. that I’m most interested in at the moment.
Tonight I want to talk about Utada Hikaru. First, please listen to this song: Utada Hikaru in Automatic.
————————————————–
Utada Hikaru – Automatic
————————————————–
The song playing now is Utada Hikaru’s Automatic, but (light accent)… *laughs* I spoke with accent *laughs*, so it’s “Automatic” but, well, any Japanese knows Utada Hikaru-san. Mou~, first is how I got to know about Utada Hikaru. I was learning classic ballet, and I had classes twice a week. Then, my mom always took me there by car, and we used to listen to the radio while we were going. Then it was always playing this song. I thought “this person, is it Misia?”. I never heard of her name, and it was her debut song, so I didn’t know her at all, and was still thinking “Eh? So Misia-san released another song”. Then, My dad brought home Utada Hikaru-san’s CD that he bought. “Ah, so it wasn’t Misia! Wow, she’s really amazing!”, and she was born in 1983, so there isn’t a big age difference between us. I was born in 1986, and she was born early (on 1983), so it’s almost four years. Then, I was thinking “how… how can she have such a cool voice, and even compose her own songs, just what is this girl” and from that moment, I got into her. Actually, when I like an artist, I tend to always recommend them to people *laughs*. I was always suggesting to my friends from school, like “here, listen to this”, and it wasn’t like “how was it? Did you like it?”, but more like imposing to them *laughs*, like “and try to memorize this”, with this much strength. When I was in middle school, I joined the chorus club, and at that time, I think it was the first year, I recommended her to another girl from the chorus club, and then we would sing in harmony together. Also, I studied piano for a year, and on the classes I would have someone teach me. “You can choose any song you like”, then I “Ok, Automatic, then, please”. Nowadays I can’t play anymore but *laughs* it’s just how much I like this song.
To describe Utada Hikaru-san with one word, well I can’t say it with one word, but what I thought at the time was “even-though-she’s-so-young!”. I don’t know if even-though-she’s-so-young would classify as a single word, but it’s what I truly thought at that time, so I chose this. I think I was 13 at the time, but at the age of 12 she already had composed a song. How was she able to do a song like that at the age of 12? I really respect her for this. I didn’t have this habit of writing song lyrics at that age, maybe it was influence of the environment in which she grew up (just look on wiki, this might’ve been true). It seems Utada Hikaru-san listened to Mariah Carey since she was a little kid. I think the songs she listened had an influence on her, what if she listened to something different? I think it’d have been good if I had listened to Michael Jackson since I was little, even now I wonder about this *laughs*. Well, in the future, if I have a kid, I think I’ll have him/her listen to these rhythmical songs, maybe I’ll make him/her a singer, I dunno. I’ll see if I ever have one.
Anyway, She has many songs that I like, but there’s one from her second album “Distance”, well they’re all good songs, but there’s one that I really love, it’s called “Sunglass”. This one isn’t very known. If you ask me why I like it, it’s not because of the lyrics, but I’m the kind of person that likes songs with that kind of “mood”. Then, I used to play “the game of life” and stuff while listening to this song (note: hmm… she says jinsei geemu. I assumed at first that it was one of those simulation games, but I looked up some sites on google and it seems it’s about this game…), and I always remember it when I listen to this song *laughs*. So, I’d like you to listen to this song “Sunglass”, from the album “Distance” without delay. Ah~ but I wonder if you know this song! Every song till now that I have broadcasted? What was it called? That I had it broadcasted on this InterFM FIVE STARS, all the songs there were many people saying they knew them, so maybe you’ll know this one too. So, at once, please listen to Utada Hikaru’s Sunglass.

How was it? Did you understand what I meant? Well, if you did, that’s good enough! Ehe~ ♥.
So, tonight I talked about Utada Hikaru.

Five Stars Thursday, presented by Morning Musume Takahashi Ai.
Now I’d like to introduce some messages:
“Ai-chan, good evening! This is my first message. ‘Egao Yes’ is my radio name and I’m always supporting Morning Musume. On June 20th, Father’s day (on Japan it’s the third Sunday of June), I went to see for the first time a play, and it was Fashionable on the last performance at Tokyo.”
Arigatou gozaimasu
“I have two children and my family knows I like Morning Musume, so they gave me a ticket to the fashionable play as a present. Being able to watch that beautiful play on Father’s day with a that I got from my wife and kids really moved me. The play, too, had parts where I couldn’t watch without shedding tears. I can’t say much because of spoilers, but Tatsumi Takurou-san playing as the father, and Ai-chan playing the daughter, father and daughter with the feel… unders…. With the feeling of understanding each other’s hopes and worries. There’s no way to express the bond between parent and child with words, but I think Ai-chan’s acting was worthy of an award.”
Arigatou gozaimasu *laughs*.
“At the end, when saying good-bye, Ai-chan said something like ‘I hope we were able to give more energy… energy and good spirit towards tomorrow for everyone who came to watch the play.’ No doubt about it, after watching the play, I really feel like working even harder from tomorrow on. To everyone that was involved in the play, thank you very much, it was moving and gave me more energy. At last, I’m sorry to take advantage of the radio to say this, but to my son, Mirai, who’s a 5th year on elementary school, my daughter Yume-chan, who’s 3 years old, and my wife, Natsuko, who took part on this too, thank you for an amazing Father’s day.”
Ara~ So lovely, this was nice! This was so nice, ne.
Well, I was doing the Fashionable play on June 20th, and my dad was at his home, so I couldn’t say “thank you” in person, but I sent a mail for father’s day… at first, I was going to send with a “congratulations”, but the members stopped me. When I said “Congratulations on Father’s day is good, right?”, they said “no way, tell him you’re grateful” *laughs*. That’s why I sent a “On Father’s day, thank you”, and then a “Papa, I love you a lot~ (papa daisuki)”. When I sent this, my dad replied *laughs* “Thank you, Ai-chan! I love you! (lol! But the I love you from ai-chan’s dad was Aishiteru, which has a stonger connotation for love, more like ‘in love’, as far as I know, it’s not normal to say this to family members)” *laughs*. My dad frequently says things like this. Like, on his birthday too, his is on September too, mine is on September 14th, so they’re close, then I send him a “Congratulations!” and his reply is always something like “Congratulations to you too, Ai-chan, Aishiteru yo!”. Why does he say aishiteru, it’s kinda creepy *laughs*. But my dad doesn’t say it directly to me, it’s definitely embarrassing for him too. Then, this mail on this FIVE STARS, saying thanks for his daughter, his kid and his wife, I think maybe Egao Yes-san (the sender) too can’t say it directly to them, I think maybe it’s something common to fathers. If I were told this directly, I’d sure be happy *laughs*, so, please say it to them personally too. And thanks for coming watch the Fashionable play. There were many adults there, like, I’ve heard things from people from the staff or something, that have a son or a daughter, many of them seem to have kids, so I heard “Maybe my daughter thinks like this too, maybe I should buy her a dress” *laughs*, “I knew they were like this”, I was glad they thought like this after the play. Also, when I got the script and read it, I cried a lot at some parts of it, and I was so troubled if I would be able to convey these parts well, and Egao Yes-san, for thinking like this, I’m the one who should be grateful. *laughs*
The Fashionable play has already ended, but after it ended, I really thought of giving my family and my friends more importance, so, Egao Yes-san, let’s do this together *laughs*
Really, thank you very much.
I’ll be waiting for a lot of messages, like trouble consultations, things you’d like to ask me, and etc. please send a lot of them! The address is five-ai@interfm.jp!

“This means a collaboration with the fans, it’s something different from everything until now. Every day it’s going to be different! It’s going to be hard on us! *laughs* And to the fans that will come see us too! *laughs* Really, if you go one day, tomorrow will be different, so, by all means, if you could come not only one time, but two, three? More? It would make us happy!”
“Starting next week, we’ll have a little change on five stars!

Good evening! Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai here!
“Aiming for the shining stars, five groups, from Monday to Friday, presenting one daily, FIVE STARS! On Thursdaays… On Thursdays it’s being presented by me, Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai!”
So, recently I went to eat motsunabe. It’s been a while since I last ate it and where I went, they serve a motsunabe from Hakata. It was so good, is what this talk is all about *laughs*. Also, what they had different from other restaurants was a shime (some kind of bird) risotto. There were other types too, but I had never heard of this one, and it was written it was “risotto-like”. This made me wonder what this could mean, so I ordered one. It had rice cakes with cheese and parsley on it, like a mix of Japanese and Western-style food, that’s why it was risotto “like”. Iya~ this was really tasty too! I had only a few and I was full, I couldn’t eat everything, but even so I was always saying “Eh, this is good!”. It’s so good, to the point that I could carry some on my mouth while going anywhere (literally, sry~). If you happen to find it somewhere, by all means, you have to try it. You won’t forget that taste! *laughs* I can’t describe how it looks like, but it’s really good.
Now, please listen to today’s Takahashi Ai’s FIVE STARS’ first number: Morning Musume in “Seishun Collection”.

“Morning Musume’s Takahashi Ai presenting FIVE STARS Thursday. Now it’s a corner where I, Takahashi Ai, will recommend Music, Movies, Plays, Games, Fashion, Foreign drama, etc. that I’m most interested in at the moment.
Tonight I’d like to talk about the movie “Yes Man”.”
To describe the movie, she says “(feels) nice!”. Then she talks about the story of the movie. It’s pretty known, so I’ll keep this part short. Jim Carrey is the leading actor, and his character at the beginning only says no to everything, he even made up some excuse to not to go to a close friend’s wedding, but his friend finds out eventually and gets pretty pissed off. Later, he’s taken by a friend to a place that encourages people to say Yes more, and he’s challenged to say yes to everything for an entire year. Ai-chan stops here, saying it would be better if people watched it they’d be able to understand why she described the movie that way. She mentions that on the movie, Jim Carrey ends up having Korean lessons, which she’s said some times that she’s into lately.
She moves on to talk about Jim Carrey, who she likes, and the reason is because she finds him really skillful, like the expressions he’s able to do, for being able to make people laugh and stuff.
“So, today I talked about the movie ‘Yes Man’”.

Five Stars Thursday, presented by Morning Musume Takahashi Ai.
Now I’d like to introduce some messages:
First mail:
“Ai-chun, good evoning” (instead of konbanwa, he used konbonwa)
*laughs* I didn’t fumble, it’s written like this! *laughs*
“Ai-chan, who got to be the ‘mother’ character of the entire Morning Musume, do the members have any kind of spoiled behavior you’d like them to stop doing? For example, you always dodge Sayumin’s kiss-attacks, so I’d like to know if there’s something like this you don’t like and what you really think about it.”
*laughs* About this, at the last tour we had, Sayu… Michishige Sayumi-chan, I got a big kiss from her. The music we were performing… there’s a song from the last album named “genki pika pika”, and on this song there are many parts I sing together with Michishige Sayumi-chan, so we pair up together and at these times she always attack me *laughs*. It’s always on our second “solo” (it’s not really solo, but something of the sort… dunno how to explain in English), then I’m already prepared when it’s time. “Here she comes!” and then I protect myself, but there are times she doesn’t come at me at all, so I loosen up and let my guard down, but I feel kinda lonely when she doesn’t attack *laughs*. But it’s just like she makes me think “Ah, she won’t come at me today too…”, and later she does attack me. It’s kind of a trick of hers, and when she succeeds, she even says “yatta!” and does a winning pose *laughs*. But this is a lot of fun, and I like when they act spoiled like this, so it’s not like it’s something unpleasant to me. But when it comes to my way of showing love, no one seems to like it, even though I do it to show my love, people don’t seem to think that way. That’s because… I frequently hit people *laughs* (lol), really, like “pechin!” (hitting onomatopoeia). But it’s not on purpose! It’s not on purpose, I think. It’s not on purpose! I do it only with the intent of tsukkomi (I’ve already mentioned what this is sometimes on this blog). Like, Linlin says a lot of funny stuff, so I just say “just what you’re saying!” and “pan”, I hit her. It seems to hurt and she says “not in the head, not in the head!” *laughs*. It’s an expression of love to me, but it really seems to hurt, like they say “it hurts, it hurts! Ai-chan, it hurts!” quite a lot, so it seems not the members, but I’m the one that’s the most spoiled *laughs*. That’s why I actually want them to act spoiled with me. It’s like I’m the older sister. I really like having someone acting like this with me. It’s probably the members who have something to say to me *laughs*, I don’t know, it’s my way of expressing love, this can’t be helped.
Second Mail:
“Ai-chan, good evening! I’m a senior on high school and a member of the swimming club. It’s kind of a sudden question, but I have a question for Ai-chan. Among the Morning Musume members, who has talent in acting? Please tell us if there was someone that made you think she was really good when you were practicing for the play.”
Well, this time for the “Fashionable” play, everyone has more individuality on the play, and each of their characters really fit them. The scriptwriter Tsubota-san says he really likes Morning Musume, so he knew how to distribute the characters. Then, there’s the role of Miyu, whom I have some conflicts with, is played by Niigaki Risa, and there were many occasions she made me think she was great. Also, Kamei Eri-chan. She’s the best friend of Coco, my character.
——
Since I can’t find a way to translate the little bit left without getting too confusing, I’ll summarize it. Basically, what she talks about at the end is that these three characters quarrel a lot, and Ai-chan was watching gakikame acting and how much they were into it, considering even details of how to movement their selves more naturally made an impression on her, making her feel like not losing to them.
——
Hai, I’ll be waiting for a lot of messages, like trouble consultations, things you’d like to ask me, and etc. please send a lot of them! The address is five-ai@interfm.jp! The song that I’ll play now is the coupling from Seishun Collection and theme song of JAPAN EXPO, called Tomo.

H!P 2010 Summer Fan Kora (Collaboration).
Then, let’s meet again next Thursday! Baibai!

Two perky idols from Morning Musume, Ai Takahashi and Linlin, stopped by the Square Enix offices to try out something new — an online game! Producer Hiromichi Tanaka and Director Nobuaki Komoto sat them down in front of Final Fantasy XIV to give it a test run and share their impressions. The interview was recorded in this month’s volume of Game Entertainment!/p>
Discuss this in the ZAM Forums!
– So, this is the first time you two have ever tried an online game. What was your first impression?
Takahashi: I always saw Final Fantasy games as having a set name and set appearance for your character. In FFXIV, you get to make the character yourself, and it feels like you get to be the producer in a way. It was really fun.
– You were really agonizing over all those choices in the character creator.
Takahashi: Yeah. If we didn’t have a time limit, I was thinking of going back and choosing a different race.
(Elmer Point: This is because they didn’t have all day to play around. There is no time limit on the in-game character creator.)
– When you get the chance to play again, what kind of character would you want to make?
Takahashi: I like to just get out there and fight, so a swordsman-type character would be good. I probably shouldn’t have chosen Archer. (laughs)
– What were you aiming for this time in terms of character?
Takahashi: I was going for a blonde, perfect-looking character, but then I saw the Lalafell, which are just so cute! Next time I play, I’m going with Lalafell!

– Linlin, how was your impression?
Linlin: Ever since seeing Final Fantasy over at Ai Takahashi’s house, I’ve always wanted to play one. Now that I’ve gotten to try out FFXIV, I’m blown away by the amazing graphics. With the rain and falling of leaves, everything just feels so real. I didn’t really get the battle system at first, but now that I’ve learned the ropes, I’ll do much better next time. Also, since it’s an online game, I really want to jump in and play along with everyone.
– Linlin, you had a character pre-made for you, but what character would you have liked to make if you had the chance?
Linlin: A character that looked like me but with silver hair would have been nice. People with silver hair have that image of being real strong, you know? (laughs) Also, the Lalafell are cute, so I would like to try out them as well.
– This time you two were able to play alongside each other, but during actual play, there will probably be many times when you and your characters are apart. If you could choose, what kinds of people would you like to play with?
Linlin: Chinese people! And my buddy Ai, of course!
Takahashi: Yup!
– Takahashi, what kind of people would you party with?
Takahashi: Americans. I really like English, so it would be awesome to practice my English conversation skills while playing a game.

– In the actual game, you’ll be able to chat with people while you play.
Takahashi: The controls keep you a little busy, but it was fun. I can only use simple English anyway, so if I play with American players, I’ll just being throwing out “Yes” and “Hello” over and over. (laughs)
– Besides chat, there are also a number of emotes you can use.
Takahashi: Yeah, I like how you can dance and such to show how you’re feeling.
Tanaka: It hope to see the whole world dancing together.
Takahashi・Linlin: (gasp in awe)
– Even if their words aren’t understood, perhaps people can still make their feelings known. By the way, as you walk through the field areas, how does it feel compared with other Final Fantasy titles?
Takahashi: I have to keep looking at the map and end up running off in some weird direction. It takes a bit to get used to the controls, so I hope to get the hang of it soon.
– You got to experience a lot of battles in the field, so how was your impression of that?
Takahashi: Battles were fun. I want to fight many more.
– You’ll be able to fight alongside people from around the world too. Battles will get much more exciting.
Takahashi: This time I was just playing alone, and it was lonely, but nice and quiet. Then, I was surprised to see one of the staff just running by! I’m excited by the idea that you’ll just randomly meet people throughout the course of play.
– There are also various conflicts that can pop up as well. For example, people may leave mid-battle.
Takahashi: Ah, yeah, like people just saying “I’m stopping now.” There’s also the time differences, so people may say, “I’m tired, I’m going to bed.”
Linlin: I feel that communicating with people from around the world really works the left-side of your brain and is good for the mind.

– Another feature of online games is they keep evolving through version updates.
Komoto: You will also be able to experience new parts of the story, such as the movie-like event you saw at the beginning of the game.
Takahashi・Linlin: Really? Wow!
Tanaka: Also, in Final Fantasy XI, you could get married to fellow adventurers your knew in-game.
Takahashi: Really? What a fun place to meet people.
Linlin: They probably have international weddings too…
Komoto: You are able to mask your true self in an online game, so players would never know they were adventuring alongside Takahashi or Linlin.
– Takahashi and Linlin, do you have any questions for for Tanaka and Komoto? Any things you would like to see in XIV?
Takahashi: Oh! Is it alright?
– If you ask them now, they might do it for you.
Komoto: We may get to it in about 5… no, maybe 3 years. (laughs)
Linlin: Well, then I want NPCs with my name and Ai’s name!
Komoto: Oh, that’s alright. I’ll sneak them into town somewhere.
Takahashi・Linlin: Wow, really?!
Linlin: You could make it a monster if you want.
Takahashi: Make me a boss monster.
Komoto: It might be doable. I’m not sure, though. (laughs)
– Any final comments regarding FFXIV?
Takahashi: For me, Final Fantasy is a relaxing experience. The series always surprises me in a positive way, and I can’t wait for this one!
Linlin: This was my first time playing a Final Fantasy, and it was a lot of fun. Final Fantasy is very popular in China too, and I bet people will be jealous that I got to do this interview. I hope that people all around the world will be able to enjoy this.
Tanaka・Komoto: We’re working on it!
